In 1916, Colonel Hall Walker gave his Stud Farm to the British Government to form the British National Stud Farm. In 1943, the newly formed Irish Government purchased the land and buildings. In 1945, the Irish National Stud Company Ltd. was formed and it officially took over the running of the Stud Farm on 31st August, 1946. It has been expanded and is now an international tourist attraction.

On our visit we were pleasantly surprised to discover that there was much more than horses. The grounds contain two beautifully landscaped gardens, the Japanese and St. Fiachara's Gardens, as well as the preserved Black Abbey, a visitors center and a museum.

Guided Tours available daily at 12 noon, 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm.
