The ruins of this mill are in the former town of Athens MO. This was the site of the northern most battle of the American Civil War. The area is now a state park with camp grounds. This mill was on the Des Moine River , the border of Missouri and Iowa. We were told the mill was unusual as the wheel wasn't a pass over but sat parallel with the water.
