a modern building recently completed in the gardens is a statute of Ronnie Barker looking towards the theatre.
The new theatre will be equipped with the most up-to-date technology and facilities including a motorised floor in the main hall that can be raised for different performances, a high specification lighting and sound rig and an auditorium which will be able to accommodate 1,200 people for seated events or 1,800 for standing events. The theatre will also contain a 220-seat adaptable function space, suitable for smaller drama productions, conferences, workshops and community use.

The proscenium arch will be12m in width and 8m in height
The stage will be 284.2sqm, including wings
The Fly tower will reach 25,27m from stage level
Ground-source heat pumps go into the ground 20m deep through concrete piles
The theatre will be 7 storeys high (Including the Fly Tower)
