Kanab is known as "A Western Classic" (or "Little Hollywood") because it has been a shooting location for movies and TV shows (predominently Westerns). There are up to a hundred plaques that line both sides of US Highway 89 as it wends its way through town, each plaque memorializing a different individual in the TV or motion picture industry. These include actors, actresses, directors, producers, and even shooting location scouts.

Kanab is less than one day's drive from all of the National Parks on the Grand Circle, several National Monuments, plus a scenic Utah State Park.
