Located at 300 W. 7th Street, the Okmulgee County Court House is in excellent condition and still actively used as the courthouse. It was designed by Hair, Tonini & Bramblet architects, and constructed in 1917.
The two-sided black marble cornerstone reads: "Okmulgee County Court House / Commissioners Harry E. Hart, Joseph Ligett, Charles C. Odell / A.D. 1917" and "Architects Hair, Tonini, Bramblet / Contractor Kreipke-Shafer Construction Co. / L.P. Garrett Insp."
This is a four-story red brick building, with white limestone. The first level is surfaced with limestone blocks. The entries are surrounded by limestone, with pediments and scrolled brackets on either side. There are three on the main North elevation, however, two of these have been converted to windows only. Deep stone stairs lead to the raised entries and vintage light poles flank the stairs.
Windows on the second and third levels are all paired, and separated by Ionic columns that extend over both levels. A cornice divides the third level from the attic level, which is recessed slightly. Beneath this cornice a limestone panel reads "OKMULGEE COUNTY COURT HOUSE" in Latin-style letters. Sculptured torch medallions of limestone separate the sets of windows on the attic level. The lobby has a dramatic marble stairway leading to the upper levels.
This courthouse was placed on the National Register in 1984 (#84003390).
