This fur trading fort was established in 1830 by the Hudson's Bay Company and was used as a company post until 1911. It has one of the finest collections of stone buildings in Western Canada.
During the summer months, interpretive staff dress and act as if it were the 1850s.
Building inside the fort include the oldest building on site known as the Big House, the stone Fur-loft and Sales shop from 1831, a stone Warehouse, the Men's House, the Company Cook House, Gunpowder Storage (in the Northeast Bastion) and several others.
Older Buildings outside the stone walls of the fort include the blacksmith's shop, the farm manager's house and Ross Cottage (for long-term guests at the Fort).
