This monument is located in a pleasant park in front of the Morgan County, Alabama courthouse. Nearby are several other monuments, benches, and a fountain.

Dimensions:
Sculpture: approx. H. 6 ft.; Base: approx. 16 ft. x 72 in. x 72 in

Description: A Civil War soldier in uniform stands at parade rest, holding the barrel of his rifle with both hands at chest height, the butt of which rests by his feet. He wears a brimmed hat with a jacket, and has a blanket roll slung over his shoulder and a canteen on his proper left side. The soldier's proper right thigh leans against the stump of a tree. The sculpture is mounted upon an inscribed, multitiered base, with a shaft-like upper section and a stepped lower section."
