The Minor House
(built ca. 1885)
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lindsay Minor acquired this home ca. 1900. Mrs.Minor was the former Nancy M. McCoy, daughter of William McCoy, an early Independence business and the first Mayor at the time of the city's incorporation in 1849. Their daughters, Eleanor and Grace, made their home at this address for eighty years. Both ladies were members of Mrs. Bess Wallace Truman's Tuesday Bridge Club. The were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Trurman in Washington during his presidential administration. The home was built on a sithe originally owned by Samuel Weston, pion blacksmith. The structure was restored in 1982-83 by Dorothy Ruff De Tray, great-great granddaughter of Samuel Weston. Robert Weston, his son, was the 185h May of Independence. The home was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 22, 1984.
