Hyrum Smith (February 9, 1800 – June 27, 1844) was the older brother of Joseph Smith, Jr. and a leader in the early Latter Day Saint movement. Hyrum was born in Tunbridge, Vermont, the second son of Joseph Smith, Sr. and Lucy Mack Smith. Hyrum received a limited education, and established himself as a farmer. Hyrum Smith statue stands proudly on the Salt Lake City Temple Grounds. Mackintosh Mahonri Young did a wonderful job creating the Hyrum Smith sculpture. Hyrum Smith is standing with his hands clasped in front of him. The sculpture is made of bronze with a base stone. It is approximately 5 x 3 x 2 inches with a base of approximately 4 x 4 x3 inches.
