Back in May 11th, 2002, the local Lung Association was looking for a way to raise funds for a local campaign and at the same time have some fun. It was decided that they'd try for a Guinness Book of World Records attempt and an omelette was what they decided to try for. In the Brockville Memorial Center (the local hockey arena) a make shift oven was set up in center ice and the attempt at the record was on. Well 6,510 lbs of eggs later, the record was official and Brockville went into the record books with the largest omelette ever (at the time).
I'm led to believe that a group in Turkey broke the record in October, 2010 with an omelette weighing 9,700 lbs, but hey, we were famous for a while. To claim this waymark as a find, all you need to do is get a pic in front of the Memorial Center as there is no plaque denoting the record and remember, world records can happen anywhere.
