I'm not sure exactly what's going on here, but I like to interpret this painting as a child with a very low-tech device -- an old Victrola gramophone -- listening to music that inspires him to imagine far-away wonders like a colorful Chinese pagoda. You don't need airplanes or the Internet to see the world!

The painting is signed "ENOSH", who was apparently also the co-painter of "Astro-Chimp," waymark number WMBBWT, as well as the painter of "Gramophone Boy" elsewhere on this street.

The painting of utility boxes in this neighborhood is sponsored by the Mira Mesa Town Council (a volunteer/business organization) and has been spearheaded by the Mira Mesa High School art department. See (visit link) for more information.

There are photos of about 30 of the other Mira Mesa utility boxes, some with info about the artists, at (visit link) .
