In the 'old town' area of George Town, on the scenic island of Penang, adjacent to a main street is this sculpture. In appearance it resembles (to my unskilled eye) a large zero, rough in appearance, white in colour. It sits on a plinth on a major traffic intersection directly opposite the 'Eastern and Orient Hotel' (is that tautological?), and is easily seen up and down the street.
The accompanying plaque states that the sculpture is named "Under a Penang Sky", that it was created in 2009, and that Mikuchi Mitsuo was the sculptor. Funding for the sculpture came from the "Penang Museum and Art Gallery", and several other instrumentalities.
