Riverton City's slogan is: Peace, Progress and Tradition.

Riverton is located in the southwestern end of Salt Lake County. It was first settled in the mid-1850's in a scattered manner. This development took place along the Jordan River. After the Utah and Salt Lake Canal was finished, it opened up thousands of acres of tillable land for agricultural cultivation.
