Sculptor Gale DuBrow and fabricator Tom McNeilly created this memorial which was dedicated on June 14, 1981. The cube is made of aluminum and the hand is made of bronze. One side of the cube is blank, the other side has vertical openings running the height of the cube, through which an electric eternal flame can be seen, when it is not overshadowed by the brightness of the Arizona sun. This link shows that it is an eternal flame.
