It once stood in the Broadway (then Malden Road) close to the junction with Ewell Road.Under threat of demolition when the road was widened in 1922, it was saved by the local council, with the help of a local architect and historian. The building was dismantled by removing the original wooden pins from the timber frame. These parts were then moved to the present site and reassembled.
The lean-to extension on the side was added at a later date.
The Old Cottage features a local historical plaque.
It is now a Bridal Wear shop!
I catch the bus home from outside the cottage each evening as part of my commute to work.
