The station was built in 1902-1903 for the Pennsylvania Railroad. The distinctive Queen Anne design was popular at start of the 1900s with its partial brick and timber construction. The tracks have been removed.

Starting in 1988, the old train station become the office for the Tidewater Trader, which is an area newspaper (link).
