The building at 1401 West 18th Street was first erected for St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church in 1941, and later purchased by the Greater Little Rock Quartet Singing Center (GLRQSC) on July 24, 1975. It has remained since its construction a pillar in Little Rock’s African American community.

The St. Peter's Rock Baptist church was founded in the late 1800's and through the years expanded their congregation building this church in 1941. At this time the church was under the leadership of Rev. Felix Timothy Evans. Dr. Evans remained the pastor of the church for 34 years until his death in 1968. The congregation continued to grow through the years.

In 1975 the congregation moved to a new building at 2201 Brown Street. The building was then sold to the Greater Little Rock Quartet Singing Center. It was here that many upcoming gospel singers and groups were able to get their start. It has continued in this role. - from National Register Nomination form
