The actual summit is along the path to the Rock Summit and is where the phone companies and broadcast companies have station their towers. This is the actual highest point on the ridge. The rock out crop is the next knob over and along this path. The path up the mountain is a gravel road that is used by the companies to maintenace their lines. After reaching the summit you need to walk past the maitenance buildings along the ridge then you will see the Rock Outcrop on the next knob. It is short hike over compared to the hike up. The path trail disolves when you head towards the Rock Summit but just head to the center of the knob and the trail picks back up. There is a Stone Bench Memorial at the Overlook dedicated to Sam Slemp. The view of Wytheville here is astonishing and well worth the hike to get here.
