The Branch received its charter on May 3 1961. The first location was an old school house.
Today the Branch owns its own, mortgage free, building and, over the years, has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars towards the welfare of veterans and their dependents, the local Queensway Carleton Hospital, seniors residences, army cadets and other community projects.
The boundaries of the original township (later city) of Nepean are still the boundaries for Branch 593, notwithstanding the recent amalgamation with the city of Ottawa. (branch web site)
