Driving west along interstate highway along Alabama into Mississippi is a rest area with a large Welcome Center, clean rest rooms, displays of things that make Mississippi famous, a marker dedicated to the completion of work on IH-10, and this memorial marker dedicated "In Tribute To All Who Served This Country With Honor and Distinction." This memorial was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 30, 1997. The MSGR. P. J. Carey Assembly #0561. 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus sponsored this memorial. The gray granite has an etched US flag centered above the text and on the left side of the text is the crest of the Knights of Columbus. On the right side of the text is the symbol of the 4th Degree.

Description of Memorial: This monument is alongside the sidewalk of the Mississippi Welcome Center, very near the parking area. It is on the southwestern corner at the front of the Welcome Center and is among the landscaping along the sidewalk. The marble stone is mounted on a concrete slab. The marker is about a foot high and about two feet wide.
