Missouri Pacific Caboose - Bernie Avenue - Springfield, MA - Train Cabooses on Waymarking.com

This Standard Steel Riveted caboose was built by Missouri Pacific in DeSoto, Missouri. The rivet design pattern identifies these cabooses and gives these cabooses a distinctive look. They were originally built with one brake wheel on the long end but the design was changed during the rebuilds of the 60s and 70s.

This caboose is located on a grassy plot in the Bernie Avenue parking lot of The Final Markdown closeout store. It's privately owned and greets visitors to the store. It periodically undergoes minor restoration, removal of graffiti, and gets repainted. It once belonged to the Guilford (Boston & Maine) Connecticut River Line.
