The large Baroque complex on Dominikánské Square, former Dominican monastery and later Regional Moravian government and nowadays seat of Brno Town Council (Magistrát mesta Brna), is one of architectonic landmarks of the Moravian metropolis.

The complex of mostly Renaissance and Gothic buidings of old Dominican monastery was rebuilt during 18th century by several Baroque architects - the most important of them were Mikuláš Stumbeck and Moritz Grimm. So, nowadays you can find only traces of older architectonic styles there, mostly in interiors - and the complex of New town hall itself is beautiful and monumental example of secular Baroque architecture.

Since its completion in the 13th century and after Renaissance rebuilding in 16th century the former Dominican monastery served the needs of the Moravian estates representation. It was place, where the provincial assemblies and courts held their sessions. During the 18th century the complex underwent great Baroque reshaping. Today the New Town Hall is a seat of the Brno mayor and the municipal counsil. The visitors to the complex should not miss the opportunity to see the architecture of medieval cloister, historic portals and the representative halls.
