This station, a USGS standard bench mark disk, is located in Sandown, NH. It is northeast from the crossing of the Rockingham Recreational Trail (Formerly the B&M Worcester, Nashua & Portland Division Railroad) through Hampstead Road (Formerly Kent Farm Road).
The description on the NHDOT datasheet is inadequate, and in error. the coordinates are good, and I agree that the mark is 80 ft southeast from the center of the trail. But the mark is not 180 ft northwest from the center of the junction of the road and trail.
Here's my findings: The mark is 80 southeast from the center of the trail bed at a small culvert, 180 ft. NORTHEAST from the center of the junction of the road and the trail, 24.5 ft. northeast from a power pole 15A-44, and 64 feet north-northeast from a small stone well.
The NHDOT datasheet can be reached at the link below.
The station is also in a semi-swampy area, so it would be easier to recover this mark during cold weather months. Unless you really like mosquitoes and bushwhacking.
