The Homestead Crater which is over 200 feet in diameter, 55 feet high, and the water inside the crater is over 65 feet deep.The Crater began forming about 10,000 years ago. Water from snow melting on the Wasatch Mountains seeped deep within the earth. Two miles below the surface, the earth's interior heated the water and sent it skyward. As it percolated upward, it picked up minerals and they eventually formed the beehive shaped limestone deposit called the Homestead Crater. The photos are showing the top opening of the crater which is reached by climbing 78 stairs and inside the crater where you can swim in the hot springs.This beautiful area is an excellent place to visit or stay for a vacation.
