This station is the end of the line for the Bangkok to Samut Songkhram route. Through four major stops, and innumerable minor, this line carries people (via an obligatory ferry crossing, which requires exiting the train and re-embarking on a different train), from the metropolis of Bangkok to this quiet and small town approximately 90kms westwards.

Samut Songkhram is a pleasant city, and capital of the province of the same name. A relatively settled area of farms and light industry.

The station is rather unobtrusive, and clearly not that busy. It is on the river, and surrounded by a market area. There is a one small ticket counter, and a few chairs. Be advised, the trains used on this line are slow, noisy, non-airconditioned and very noisy (did I say that), however, it is cheap. When I visited in the late afternoon the station was deserted. Very few tourists, not much English, expect to be noticed.

The waymark was made at what looks to be the main entrance, however, this is simply an alley through a line of shops, running off the road. No sign or other marker present.
