This is one of only 157 tripoints on national level worldwide, and the only one within a major city. The municipalities of Basel (Switzerland), Weil am Rhein (Germany) and Huningue (France) as well as about 15 other towns in all three countries are completely grown together and build one single urban agglomeration.
The exact point is a few meters away in the river, the monument was erected on Swiss soil on a pier of the freight port of Basel. The monument is a large iron pylon in the shape of a rocket with the flags of France, Germany and Switzerland on the tails.
Here is also a starting point for boat sightseeing tours as well as river cruises to the Netherlands.
The location has a restaurant, too.
