A Gaelic Blessing’ is a piece of music composed by John Rutter C.B.E. It is sometimes known as ‘Deep Peace’ and has become popular at christenings weddings and funerals.

The 4 sides of the stone obelisk have relief art representing the first 4 lines of this piece of music.

These lines are as follows
Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.

Each of the sides has an etching in stone at the base with the line of the music that the side is representing.

It was erected in 2008 as part of a project to celebrate the history of the church. It is made to look like a Saxon Cross from the 10th Century. Part of a real Saxon cross stands in the church itself. This modern day version stands near to the entrance to the hall.
