Jerry Schemmel preserves his memories of that disastrous airplane crash in his book “Chosen to Live.” That fateful day when United Airlines Flight 232 made a crash landing at the Sioux Gateway Airport, he managed to escape the wreckage with 183 other survivors, but returned to the plane to rescue 11 month old infant.
