This bandshell sits in the southeast corner of a small city park locaated on the main street in Ipswich, SD,

The park itself is about 1/2 block wide and about 3/4 block long. There are no playground equipment in the part but are several granite benches, one dedicated to a man named Beebe.

The bandshell faces northwest and when people come to the park, they have to bring their own chairs.

The bandshell is used only a couple times a year, but in June each year, the town holds its annual Ipswich Trail Days, with a kickoff by the Mayor and later in the day musical entertainment was held. This event lasts for three days.

Ipswich is a small community in Edmunds County, South Dakota.
Its population as of July 2008 was 866, reflecting a drop in population of about 8% from the 2000 census.

The area was settled by German, Norwegian, Irish, Russian, Czech, and English peoples.

Ipswich has a rich history that began over 100 years ago with the coming of the railroad. The town has grown into an agricultural community. The 1000 residents have strong values and the hard work ethic that came west with their pioneer ancestors. Ipswich, the county seat of Edmunds County, is only 25 minutes from the third largest city in South Dakota - Aberdeen. With a population of just under 1000, Ipswich is a Class 2 Municipality. We are served by a mayor and six council members, who are elected from each of the three Wards. The Ipswich City Council meets every first and third Monday of the month at the City Hall at 7:00 p.m.
