On 25 November 1992 a loud explosion rocked Haunted Hollow in Kaysville Utah. A mysterious icon known as Kays Cross was knocked off its foundation and blasted into several pieces. A 20 foot stone cross complete with fireplace and a large K on the front was destroyed forever. Why, who or what destroyed Kays Cross is a mystery to most but one article claims that a teenager placed a pipe bomb in it.
When I moved to Utah in July 2005 one of the first things I heard about was Kays Cross. Who built it and why is a mystery, however, that might have been solved also when an individual recently came forward to describe how and why he helped build it in 1946. I've heard stories about people being chased by dog faced demons, devil worship, and ghosts haunting the area. Some legends had a polygamist leader murdering his wife and burying her in the cross. It took me several years to find the exact location but I have visited the location several times and I have never seen anything paranormal, but the stories about the monument are worth reading.
Enter "Kays Cross" on any Internet search engine and you will be treated with lots of stories and theories about the cross. In the 1980s a local TV station even did a one hour special on it. There is even an entry on the Wikipedia website about the cross.
Reaching Kays Cross requires a little bit of a hike, its definately not wheel chair accessible and round trip will take about an hour. N41°03.060 W111°55.295 is the location of a parking lot at a sports park in Kaysville. Park and head east, follow the trails down into the hollow. A GPS is advisable.
