Jefferson Barracks Cemetery was officially recognized as a
national cemetery in 1866, however the first burial recorded was August 5, 1827,
one year after the military post was opened. Currently there are more than
150,000 internments including veterans from all wars from the Revolutionary War
to present. The cemetery is open from dawn to dusk 365 days a year.
