This museum began to be built in 1842. It has now 34 exhibit rooms. Military Museum, in Lisbon, presents weapon evolution from a chronological perspective, assembling tile painting and sculpture of the 18th 19th and 20th centuries with war motives. Here you can see Medieval armours, primitive naval and earth artillery, as well as the memories of military actions involving Portuguese forces, from the French Invasions to World War I and to the African campaigns between the end of the 19th century and 1974. The tiles of the so-called Cannon Patio are remarkable, depicting battles and several combats
