The Town Hall, NW. corner of Water and Front Sts., was built in 1855. An impressive structure of brick, topped with a white cupola, it is a good example of the architecture of the period. The granite walls of the basement are a much later addition. - New Hampshire, A Guide to the Granite State, Exeter section, pg. 161.

The city offices left the building in 1966 and the district court moved from the building in 2005. The building is now used by the Chamber of Commerce and for public meetings. The build is well maintained and was restored after damages from Hurricane Bob in 1991.
