DESCRIBED BY US ENGINEERS 1933 (MOW) ON THE SIDEWALK ON THE BATTERY IN THE CITY OF CHARLESTON. THE STATION IS A STANDARD DISC SET IN CONCRETE IN A DRILL-HOLE IN THE GRANITE WALK, 33.0 METERS SOUTH OF THE MONUMENT COMMEMORATING THE BATTLE OF FORT SUMTER, 0.75 METERS FROM THE SOUTHERN EDGE OF THE WALK AND 3.42 METERS FROM THE NORTHERN EDGE. NO REFERENCE MARKS WERE ESTABLISHED. THIS MARK IS PLACED OVER THE EXACT POINT OF BATTERY 3 OF THE U.S. ENGINEERS. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 3 METERS.

RECOVERY NOTE BY SOUTH CAROLINA GEODETIC SURVEY 1991 IN CHARLESTON, IN THE SEA WALL SUPPORTING AN ELEVATED SIDEWALK AT THE BATTERY (JUNCTION OF LOCKWOOD AND EAST BAY STREET). OWNERSHIP--DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, 30 MARY MURRAY DRIVE, CHARLESTON, SC 29403, PHONE 803-724-7321, ATTENTION-STEVE LIVINGSTON. 4.2 FEET ABOVE THE STREET, 2.6 FEET WEST OF THE EAST EDGE OF THE SEA WALL, 11.3 FEET EAST OF THE WEST EDGE OF THE RETAINING WALL SUPPORTING A SLATE SIDEWALK, 50.8 FEET NORTHEAST OF REFERENCE MARK BATTERY 3 USE RM 2, 103.1 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE EAST EDGE OF THE BASE OF A MONUMENT COMMEMORATING THE BATTLE OF FORT SUMTER. RECOVERED BY T. HALL.
Note: Battery 3, Ref 1 is just north of the station and visible from it. There are at least 7 other station in the area.
