The Stitt house was built in 1875 in a Italianate style. The house was built for Samuel H. Stitt, industrialist and early city founder. He along with Colonel Fordyce, he built the Fordyce bathhouse and were early investors in the Mountain Valley Spring Water company. He also built the first Arlington Hotel. The house is now used as a bed and breakfast.
