Yadkin College was an educational institution founded in 1857 by the Methodist Protestant Church. The college was located in rural Davidson County, NC and named for the nearby Yadkin River.
The founders hoped the rural setting would prevent the "sinfulness" often displayed by college students. The rural location proved the college's undoing, however. Yadkin College closed in 1895 due to low enrollment.
High Point University serves as the successor to Yadkin College.
The unincorporated village of Yadkin College, NC still exists near the ruins of the institution.
