Description from the Inventory:

A granite figure of a Civil War soldier standing at parade rest, with his rifle held vertically in front of him, his right hand holding the barrel, his left hand resting across the top of the barrel, and the rifle butt resting on the ground by his feet. He has a moustache and wears a short belted jacket and a small cap. He stands with his right leg slightly forward atop a short granite shaft adorned with the New Jersey coat of arms and an inscription honoring soldiers from New Jersey who died during the Civil War.
