As you can see in the photos, service time is at 9:30. What is not apparent is it's history, the sanctuary is a WWII army chapel that was disassembled at Camp Adair, north of Corvallis, and reassembeled here. The first church was built on the donation land claim in 1907. That building burned down November 26,1944. One of the few things salvaged from that fire is the grand piano that is still in use today. Fortunately, WWII had ended, and Camp Adair was declared surplus. So the congregation applied for an Army chapel. They received an official letter on January 6, 1947 that they had been awarded "Chapel T-6-525" for the sum of $910.00. They disassembled the chapel, and loaded it onto trucks for the long journey to Reedville. Because of scavengers taking anything not "fastened down" at Camp Adair, they wasted no time in getting it out of there. They hauled 18 truck loads in 2 weeks. The newly reassembled church was dedicated on June 29, 1947. And so, another piece of our nation's history has been preserved.
This information was obtained from the book "A History of Reedville Presbyterian Church", written by the church's historian Sue Lambing. Thank you Sue.
