. A plaque is mounted on the top of this 4-sided polished black granite monument. On the back edge of this plaque, there is a thin metal plate that reads:
NOTES INSIDE - REMOVE & REPLACE IN 2059 & 2109
The monument was placed in 2009, so the notes are clearly meant to be read on its 50th and centennial anniversary. The plaque is attached to the stone by 4 screws. Research reveals little or no information concerning the placement of the monument, Class 1-57, or the notes in the time capsule contained within.
Semper Fi Park overlooks the National Museum of the Marine Corps and is opened daily to the public from 9 AM to 5 PM except for Christmas. There is no admission to any of the facilities.
