This sculpture, entitled Bachi 1973, by Japanese artist Masayuki Nagare depicts a giant granite bachi... a theme for many of his works. The bachi is the pick or plectrum used to play the shamisen and is typically not much larger than a guitar pick. There is a photo of some bachi at this Wikipedia article (visit link)
