Unfolding Star is a kinetic, two-piece sculpture located at the Fine Arts Institute of Edmond. The tripodal base is about 5 feet tall, and the star portion is about 2 feet in diameter. The star is white, and appears to be a white piece of paper with folds resembling a star. There are four points (four corner of a piece of paper). The center is a pale blue.
The top, star portion rotates, but the base does not move. On a windy day you can watch the white star spin around.
The plaque at the sculpture lists the title of this piece as "Unfolding Star", but the inscription on the sculpture reads:
"Star Unfolding" 7/12
There are several other sculptures at the entrance to the Fine Arts Institute: Monet, Three Totems, Crane Unfolding (also by Kevin Box), and Leap Frog.
