Rožmberkové byli starý ceský šlechtický rod z rozrodu Vítkovcu. Patrili k mocenské elite, která se casto byla schopna postavit moci krále. Zastávali vysoké funkce, pusobili jako místodržící, nejvyšší komorníci i maršálové, nevyhýbali se duchovním hodnostem.
