The hotel was originally built in the mid-1920s to house stagecoach travelers and visitors to the historic P Ranch. The architectural style of the hotel is commonly called American Foursquare, which is characterized by a two-story cube shape, a porch across the front, and a lack of ornamental detail. In 1938 the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) remodeled and added to the rear of the building. The hotel is operated by the Oregon State Parks Department as the Frenchglen Hotel State Heritage Site. The 8-room hotel with dining area is open from mid-March through October.
