Because wind accelerates as it crosses the 'Great Lakes', Ferndale is an ideal location for the wind turbine. The turbine is connected to the main Hydro One 44KV feeder that runs along Highway 6.

Wind is the world's fastest growing source of electricity, with a 5 year compound annual growth rate over 30%. This increase in the number of turbines manufactured is driving costs down, as manufacturers go down their learning curve, and achieve economies of scale. In the future, wind power will be even more competitive with coal and gas fired plants..
In Ontario, 26% of our power comes from coal. Coal emissions contribute to smog, cause acid rain, and release carbon dioxide in vast quantities, contributing to climate change.
The electricity for average home in Ontario is responsible for the release of almost 8000 Kg of Carbon Dioxide per year, since the coal plants run almost all the time to provide power.
...If Ontario installed as many wind turbines as crowded Germany, we could cut our coal emissions in half.
With over 2000 Km of Great Lakes coastline, better winds, and over three times the land mass of Germany, it can be done.
Sky Generation has been formed as a private company to build, own, and operate wind turbines in Ontario.
