The building is thought to have been built in 1804 and as part of the Bunratty Castle Estate and originally served as a grain store. In about 1825 the building became a stop along a horse carriage route and served in that role until about 1870 when it became a grain store again. In 1927 the building as leased to the Bunratty Creamery Co-Op. It was purchased by the co-op in 1963. The business changed names a few times but the building continued to serve as a creamery building until 1997. At that time the building was converted to a restaurant and bar which opened in 1999 and it continues to serve in that role. In the bar is a black cast iron milk steamer dating to its time when it was a creamery building.
