A 3 day return tramping trip departing from the end of Clements Mill Road to Cascade Hut and up onto Maungaorangi. Awesome 360° views from the top of Maungaorangi, towards the west with Lake Taupo in the distance, and to the east across the Kaimanawa Forest Park. The summit can be snow covered in winter and weather can change rapidly. Go prepared. Maps are available from DOC.
