The bronze figures show people who move festively
dressed through the streets of Warnemünde. The pageant is firmly
connected with the society-political history of Warnemünde. Since the Warnminner Ümgang
(Warnemünder pageant) took place after a meeting which determined a
representative of the fishing village of Warnemünde compared with the
town of Rostock. The fountain ensemble was inaugurated in 2004.
The tradition of the Warnminner Ümgang
is also maintained in today's Rostock.
As usual, groups and associations present themselves with this
tumultuous pageant with public festival character which is accompanied enthusiastically
by many local spectators and onlookers.
Here's a brief abridgement of the fixed panel, telling
you some facts of that plageant (just german words):
"Dem
Rade unde der Stadt Rostock
gehorsam, truw und hold sin."
Das war auferlegte Pflicht der
Warnemünder. "Truw und hold"
hieß immer auch "Zins und Güld"!
Und so zogen Hegediener,
Bürgerälteste und Quartiermänner
Jahr um Jahr zum städtischen Vogt,
um die ihnen oftmals auferlegten
schweren Lasten abzutragen.
