Parts of the house date to 1825 but there was an earlier house which was added to by the Smyth family. This can be seen as a five bay wing with two storeys whilst the newer parts have three storeys. The stone in the pediment was from Horton Hall which was demolished.

An earlier Summer House dates to 1685 and has inscriptions with Latin verses showing the Ward family's support of James II.

Coats-of-arms appear on the entrance gate.
