This Carnegie Library building was built beginning in 1928. The building replaces an earlier Carnegie library building located on Bridge Road which was burned by the Black and Tans in 1921. The Carnegie Foundation operated the library until 1953 when it turned control over to Kerry County Council. The building had fallen into disrepair in 1995 and the library moved to a new building. In 1997 the Kerry Diocesan Youth Service revamp the building and converted to a youth center.
