Like most parks in the city of Paducah, this park was named for the person that sold the land to the city. Kolb park was bought by the city of Paducah in 1912 from Louis Kolb at an unusually low figure. In token of his lw selling price the park was named in his honor.

At one time, Kolb park contained a swimming pool. It is used by many of Paducah's southside residents for picnics and reaction.
